PURPOSE:To enable activation of the productivity of peroxidase by a microorganism, by culturing the microorganism in a medium containing methylviologen or methylviologen analogue, and, when necessary, a reductive substance. CONSTITUTION:When methylviologen or its analogue is added to a culture medium in which a microorganism is proliferating heterotrophically, the methylviologen is reduced into metylviologen free radical to generate peroxide in the presence of glucose. When a microorganism producing the peroxidase decomposing the peroxide such as one in Coprinus is present, it produces a peroxidase as shown in the figure and grows as decomposing the peroxide. Then, when a reductive substance such as glutathione is continuously fed, the peroxidase activity of the microorganism can be rapidly increased even in the presence of a high concentration of methylviologen or its analogue. Active algae such as Chlorella pyrenoidosa or a photosynthetic microorganism such as in Rhodospyriacea can also be handled similarly. |
