PURPOSE: To make it possible to easily suppress and put out the fire of hardly extinguishable silane chloride by sprinkling inert inorg. powder consisting of silica-alumina porous materials, then spraying an aq. chloride soln. of Na, K or Ca. CONSTITUTION: The inert inorg. powder consisting of the alumina porous materials contg. >=80wt.% SiO2 having a particle diameter of 5μm to 5mm, a pore diameter of 0.1 to 100μm, a true sp. gr. of 2.1 to 2.5 and a bulk sp. gr. of 0.2 to 0.7 and/or silica-alumina porous materials contg. >=90wt.% SiO2 +Al2 O3 is sprinkled and, thereafter, the aq. chloride soln. of the Na, K or Ca is sprayed. Consequently, the fire of the hardly extinguishable silane chloride is easily suppressed and put out. In addition, the generation of toxic gases is suppressed during fire extinguishment action. Further, the occurrence of a secondary disaster even during the fire extinguishment action and after the put out of the fire is averted.
