PURPOSE:To measure gap between mold pieces at hot state and to prevent leakage of molten metal by arranging a gap sensor for measuring gap developing at abutting part caused by heat expansion at the time of pouring the molten metal. CONSTITUTION:Fixed members 12, 14 and movable members 16 are fastened to assemble the mold 10 and at the time of pouring the molten steel in the casting zone 18, each member 12, 14, 16 is deformed by the heat expansion. Then, the members 12 and 16 come to partial contact and gaps at the upper end and the lower end are increased, respectively. In case of measuring the gap by the gap sensor 20, DC magnetic field is generated by conducting the current into coils 41, 42 and eddy current is generated in the mold by this magnetic field and secondary magnetic field is induced in the mold by this eddy current and impedance having the coils 41, 42 is changed and voltage between terminals 46 is changed. At the time of changing the voltage between the terminals 46, it is displayed in the displaying part and condition of the mold during casting is grasped based on the displayed measuring value, and reflected in the operational condition, etc. |
