<p>Flow meter which is used to measure the volume flow of fluid in a pipe (2). A light source (1) (e.g. a semiconductor diode laser) illuminates scattering particles suspended in the fluid. A lens (3) images the scattered light onto a multi-element photodetector (4). A digital processor interfaced to the detector calculates a time-delayed spatial correlation function, and hence the magnitude and direction of the flow velocity at one or more points in the pipe (2).</p> |
