Disclosed is a method for measurement of peptidic degradation products of a proteolytic cascade comprising at least two consecutive proteolytic reactions in a biological sample, wherein the sample is incubated until the actual overall degradation rate of at least one peptidic degradation product is equal to the actual overall formation rate of said at least one peptidic degradation product and a steady state equilibrium is reached for said at least one peptidic degradation product involved in said proteolytic cascade and wherein said at least one peptidic degradation product in a steady state equilibrium concentration is quantified in the sample.
