PURPOSE:To improve the stability of a developing soln. contg. hydroquinones to air oxidation by adding a specified compd. to the developing soln. CONSTITUTION:A silver halide photosensitive material is processed with a developing soln. contg. hydroquinones, e.g., hydroquinone as a developing agent and one or more kinds of compds. represented by formula I (where X is hydroxyl, amino, etc., Y is carboxyl, sulfo, etc., and R is alkylene). The compds. represented by formula I may include a compd. represented by formula II. The hydroquinones may be used in combination with p-aminophenols as the developing agent. Sulfite, an alkali agent for setting pH and a chelating agent may be added to the developing soln. An aq. soln. contg. thiosulfate is used as a fixing soln. |
