<p>This improved photomagnetic recording membrane contains (i) Pt and/or Pd, (ii) a rare earth element (RE) and (iii) Fe and/ or Co. The amt. of Pt and/or Pd is between 10-30 atom.% (pref. 10-20 atom.%; esp. 11-19 atom.%). The amt. of Fe and/or Co is 40-70 atom.% (pref. 40-60 atom.%). The atomic ratio Co/(Fe+Co) is between 0 and 0.3 (pref. 0 and 0.2, esp. 0.01-0.2). Its crystalline condition is amorphous. The rare earth element (RE) can be Nd, Sm, Pr, Ce, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy or Ho. The improved photomagnetic recording membrane can have a double layer structure consisting of an inner layer and an outer layer on a base. The coercive forces (Hc1, Hc2) and the Curie temps. (Tc1, Tc2) of the inner and outer layers respectively, should satisfy the relationships, Hc1 is more than Hc2 and Tc1 is less than Tc2.</p> |
