PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal recording material having favorable dot reproduction properties and high printing quality, by providing a thermal color forming layer on an undercoat layer, and incorporating microcapsules containing an oily liquid therein into the undercoat layer. CONSTITUTION:Microcapsules containing an oily liquid therein are incorporated in an undercoat layer, whereby flexibility of the undercoat layer is enhanced. As a result, the property for matching of a thermal color forming layer with a thermal head is enhanced, and the heat capacity of the undercoat layer is enhanced, whereby a heat-insulating property is provided, and dot reproduction property on printing is enhanced. The microcapsules may be, for example, gelatine, melamine-formaldehyde or polyurethane-urea capsules which are used for pressure-sensitive recording materials. The oily liquid may be, for example, cotton seed oil, kerosine, a paraffin, naphthene oil, an alkylated biphenyl, an alkylated terphenyl, a chlorinated paraffin or an alkylated naphthalene. An organic or inorganic pigment may be used in the undercoat layer, a binder for which may be a water-soluble or water-insoluble high molecular weight compound. |
