摘要

PURPOSE:To obtain a ferromagnetic thin metallic film type magnetic recording medium having excellent running stability and durability by providing a ferromagnetic thin metallic film layer on a non-magnetic substrate contg. a rust preventive and providing a lubricant layer on the ferromagnetic thin metallic film layer. CONSTITUTION:The rust preventive contained in a non-magnetic substrate diffuses up to the crystal surface through the clearances existing at the grain boundaries of the ferromagnetic metallic crystalline texture constituting the ferromagnetic thin film in the stage of forming the ferromagnetic thin film or during actual use of the medium. Then, the entire part of the above-described crystalline texture is protected by the rust preventive and the corrosion resistance of the magnetic layer is improved. The lubricant added with an additive and diluted with a solvent is coated thinly on the surface of the ferromagnetic thin metallic film or the vapor of the lubricant is applied on the surface thereof, to form the lubricant layer on the surface of the medium, whereby the coefft. of friction is considerably decreased and the durability is consequently improved.
