PURPOSE:To enhance the energy of exhaust gas with the use of reaction heat by a catalyst so as to enhance the acceleration responsiveness by arranging a catalyst in an exhaust passage upstream of an exhaust turbosupercharger, and by supplying air to the upstream side of a catalyst converter during acceleration of the engine. CONSTITUTION:A catalyst converter 12 is disposed in an exhaust passage 81 upstream of a turbine wheel 1b constituting an exhaust turbosupercharger 1. An intake-air passage 61 upstream of a compressor wheel 1a constituting a supercharger is connnected upstream of a throttle valve 10, with exhaust passages 5 from engine cylinders by an air introduction passage 14 having branch passages 15, 16 in which solenoid valves 19, 20 are disposed, respectively. A control unit 21 controls the valves 19, 20 which are therefore opened during acceleration of the engine so as to feed air upstream of the catalyst converter 12. |
