PURPOSE:To provide the titled fiber composed of a sheath component containing a specific amount of a deodorizing agent and a core component, having a specific sheath/core cross-section ratio and a fineness of the fiber falling within a specific range and having excellent productivity and deodorizing effect. CONSTITUTION:The objective composite fiber is composed of a sheath component (e.g. high-density polyethylene) containing 5-15wt.% of a deodorizing agent (e.g. zeolite or activated carbon) and a core component (e.g. crystalline polypropylene) and has a sheath/core cross-section ratio of 2/8-6/4 and a fiber fineness of 0.5-40 denier. The fiber can be used as a multifilament to be formed into a woven or knit fabric, a staple fiber to be formed into a spun yarn or nonwoven fabric or a chopped strand which can be blended to paper. |
