<p>PURPOSE:To accurately detect whether or not there is liquid even during rainfall by providing a film that liquid to be detected penetrates and light other than the liquid to be detected does not penetrate in contact with a high polymer waveguide and deciding whether or not there is the liquid according to whether or not light which is propagated in the high polymer waveguide is reflected by its end surface. CONSTITUTION:A liquid detection sensor consists of a sensor main body 10, an optical propagation part 20 made of an optical fiber, and a processing part 30 which outputs light to the optical propagation part 20 and decides whether or not there is oil according to the output of the sensor main body. The main body consists of the high polymer film 1 that the oil penetrates, but water does not penetrate and the high polymer waveguide 2 having an optical path 2a, and the end surface of the film 1 contacts the high polymer waveguide 2. When there is the liquid to be detected, the liquid penetrates the film 1 and contacts the end surface of the waveguide 2, so the light propagated in the waveguide is absorbed by the end surface without being reflected. When there is the liquid, on the other hand, the liquid does not penetrates the film, so the light propagated in the waveguide is reflected by its end surface.</p> |
