<p>PURPOSE: To provide a batt for reinforcing material, etc., developing a fracture surface having a lamellar structure isoclinally arranged nearly parallel to the axial line of the fiber cross-section, composed of randomly arranged carbon fibers having specific width and effective for increasing thermal conductivity and electrical conductivity of a composite material. CONSTITUTION: Solid pitch is introduced into a spinning rotor 1 with a screw feeder 2, heated and melted with an electric induction coil 5 and subjected to centrifugal spinning by rotating a driving shaft 3 with a driving means 4 at a high speed. The formed fibers are gathered with a conical vessel 7 and collected on an endless screen conveyor belt 8 from an outlet channel connected to a vacuum source 9 to obtain the objective batt 10 developing a fracture surface having a lamellar fine structure composed of randomly arranged carbon fibers having a cross-sectional width of <=12μm and composed of lamella isoclinally arranged nearly parallel to the axial line of the fiber cross-section and extending to the circumference of the fiber cross-section.</p> |
