PURPOSE:To improve the thermal fatigue resistance of the titled roll by welding a Cr steel having a specified compsn. to the body of the roll by build-up welding and by carrying out heating to a specified temp., rapid cooling and tempering to vanish the softened region. CONSTITUTION:A Cr steel consisting of 0.15-0.40% C, 3.5-6.0% Cr, 0.75-1.5% Si, 1.5-3.0% Mn, 1.5-3.5% Mo, 0.5-1.5% Co and the balance essentially Fe is welded to the surface of the body of a roller for a coiler used in a hot rolling equipment by build-up welding. The resulting layer is heated to the Ac3 transformation point - the Ac3 transformation point +100 deg.C, rapidly cooled, tempered and subjected to surface finishing. A roll for a coiler having improved durability is obtd. |
