PURPOSE:To increase the adhesive strength of an inhibitor and to obtain advantageously a one-side hot dipped steel sheet by adjusting the viscosity of a slurry of the inhibitor contg. magnesia, alkali silicate, boric acid and an alkali substance as principal components, applying the slurry to one side of a steel sheet, and carrying out hot dipping. CONSTITUTION:Ti and/or Ti(OH)4 and one or more among alumina, Al(OH)3 and alumina sol are added to an aqueous slurry contg. magnesia, alkali silicate, boric acid and alkali metallic hydroxide. The slurry is adjusted to <=30 poise viscosity, applied to one side of a steel sheet, and dried by heating to form an inhibitor film. The steel sheet is dipped in a hot dipping bath such as a molten zinc bath to obtain a one-side hot dipped steel sheet. Since the hot dipping inhibiting film maintains its high adhesive strength and craking resistance and can be easily stripped and removed by quenching or other means after hot dipping, a one-side hot dipped steel sheet whose undipped surface maintains the rolled surface is obtd. |
