The present invention relates to a bacterial strain having an inhibitory effect on obesity and a pharmaceutical composition containing the same, and more specifically, to a bacterial strain having an inhibitory effect on obesity by reducing the concentration of fatty acids dissolved in the gut fluid content and a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating obesity or metabolic diseases induced by obesity. According to the present invention, the gastrointestinal bacterial strain having an inhibitory effect on obesity, by reducing the concentration of fatty acids dissolved in the gut fluid content, in the gastrointestinal tract of mammals was found to have no side effects in both animal testing and clinical trials, while showing similar efficiency in treating obesity as orlistat, which is one of the most widely-used anti-obesity medications. According to the present invention, by using the bacterial strain having an inhibitory effect on obesity by reducing the concentration of fatty acids dissolved in the gut fluid content in the gastrointestinal tract of mammals, it is possible to develop an anti-obesity medication which can be widely used by patients suffering from obesity and thus contribute significantly to the welfare of humankind. |
