PURPOSE: To protect a plate glass against rupture resulting from fluctuation in the atmospheric pressure by providing means for regulating the difference between the atmospheric pressure and the pressure in a hermetically sealed space defined by a spacer and the plate glasses facing each other at both sided of the spacer. CONSTITUTION: Two plate glasses 1 are held at a constant interval, at the periphery thereof, by means of a spacer 2 sealed hermetically by a sealant 3. A suction valve 4 and an exhaust valve 5 are provided at a part of the spacer 2. penetrating the inner air layer and the outer air. When the outer air pressure decreases, the exhaust valve 5 opens and exhaustion takes place from the dry air layer 6 to the outer air 7. When the outer air pressure increases, the suction valve 4 opens and suction takes place to the outer air to the dry air layer 6 thus eliminating inner and outer pressure difference automatically. Consequently, the plate glass can be protected against rupture due to fluctuation in the atmospheric pressure. |
