<p>PURPOSE:To facilitate manual steering upon fault of motor by arranging a means for inverting relative displacement of members deformable elastically through steering force and engaging/disengaging a clutch between an output shaft of a steering assist motor and a steering input shaft. CONSTITUTION:A rack 9 in a steering device is engaged with a pinion 8c of a pinion shaft 8 coupled through a torsion bar 7 with a steering input shaft 1. A clutch inner 8b is formed integrally at the intermediate section of the pinion shaft 8, and a bevel gear 12 having a cam curve on the inner circumference is arranged rotatably through plural rollers 10 on the outer circumference of the inner 8b. A bevel gear (not shown) driven through a motor is engaged with the bevel gear 12. Spiral springs 13, 13' are fitted respectively to the outer circumference of a retainer 11 for holding the roller 10 and the outer circumference of a disc 1a integral with the input shaft 1, and a lever 14 rotatable around a supporting pin 15 is stretched between the foot sections thereof.</p> |
