The present invention relates to axle assemblies for vehicles of the automobile type. The assembly according to the invention is essentially characterised by the fact that it includes at least two wheels 2, 3 capable of making contact with the ground 4, means for combining the two wheels with a chassis 1 and holding them in two substantially parallel planes 6, 7, these means consisting of a unitary beam 8, means 9 for rotationally immobilising the beam with respect to the chassis at a point 10 located between the two ends 11, 12 of the beam, two cams 13, 14 secured, substantially at one of their ends, to the two ends of the beam, and means for rotationally mounting the two wheels respectively at the two second ends of the cams. <IMAGE>
