<p>A tube valve (10) has a valve body (12) and a jaw (16) pivotably mounted thereon. The jaw (16) has an opening (30) for receiving and holding hollow flexible tubing (116) and a second opening (29) which, when the jaw (16) is closed accommodates a valving member (24). The valving member (24) is movably mounted on the valve body (12) and can be moved into and out of operative contact with the tubing (116) while the jaw (16) is in position about the valving member (24). A latch assembly (34) is provided for holding the jaw (16) in position about the valving member (24). The latch assembly (24) includes a latch neck (36) which is pivotably mounted to the valve body (12) so that it can be pivoted to move a latch member (37) on the free extremity of the latch neck (36) into a holding recess (40) in the jaw (16). The actuator mechanism has a lever (60) pivotably mounted to a housing. At one end of the lever an air cylinder (64) is movably connected to provide force to pivot the lever (60). The valving member (24) is connected to a rod which is pivotably mounted to the other end of the lever (60) so that energizing of the air cylinder (64) retracts the plunger (24) thereby opening up the tubing (116) for flow therethrough.</p> |
