Microwave oven with an illuminating device in the oven muffle. In such a microwave oven, an illuminating body is arranged in the region of a muffle wall for illuminating the heating chamber. The illuminating body is held in a lampholder which consists of a ceramic mass. In this region, there is the risk of leaking radiation. In order to obtain maximum sealing with respect to microwaves in the region of the lampholder, a microwave-absorbing material is added to (mixed with) the ceramic mass for producing the lampholder.
