The invention proposes a remotely controllable device for bracing a shut-off member between the flanges of two axis-parallel pipe ends, in the case of which there is provided a worm wheel, arranged concentrically with respect to the pipe axis, with a drive worm which can be rotated, by means of a remotely controlled tool, perpendicularly to the pipe axis in a rotationally fixed mounting, it being possible, by means of a transporting thread provided on the inner circumference of the worm wheel, for a component with a counter-thread to be displaced parallel to the pipe axis.
