Passenger train coaches (RZW) are equipped with a vehicle-control computer (FLR) which is connected to monitoring devices for the power supply device and electric loads, as well as two sensors for ensuring traffic safety. Furthermore, the passenger train coach (RZW) contains a data station (DS) with which mechanical defects can be indicated to the vehicle-control computer (FLR) by the train staff and which serves to convey information on operating states and defects. Furthermore, a passenger information system is connected to the vehicle-control computer (FLR) which consists of a coach control display (WLA), an information station (IS), a public address system (BA) and a seat reservation display (SRA). In order to exchange data with a fixed data processing system as vehicle control point and other passenger train coaches (RZW), the vehicle-control computer (FLR) is connected to a train data line (ZL). A connection can be made to the data processing system via the locomotive (LM) and its railway radio (ZF) from the travelling train, in stations the connection is made to the train data line (ZL). With data terminals, seat reservations, for example, can be made directly from the ticket-sales counter or the platform. Passengers can call up information while travelling via the information station (IS). Defects and faults in the passenger train coach (RZW) are reported to maintenance points via the vehicle-control computer (FLR).
