A deflecting element for the pull cords of gathered curtains, which can be just as easily and reliably attached to the suspension rail 8 and removed again and fixed to another place, consists of a plastic plate (10) which is produced in one piece with a loop (3) and is provided, on at least one side, with a Velcro cover (28) which is the correlate of a corresponding part (29) of a Velcro fastener which is attached, e.g. bonded, to the suspension rail (8). Expediently, the second side of the plastic plate (10) is also provided with a Velcro cover (30) which cooperates with a corresponding Velcro cover attached to the curtain material. <IMAGE>
