A screen printing method for printing on webs of material with coloured images, drawings, photographs and the like is described, wherein the web of material is fixed on a table top by means of an easily detachable adhesive, a first screen printing stencil is then aligned by means of stops located at the edge of the table, and a first printing ink is applied to the web of material through the screen of the screen printing stencil by means of a squeegee or the like, whereupon a further screen printing stencil is aligned at the same place and, correspondingly, a second printing ink is applied to the web of material, then correspondingly a third ink with a third screen printing stencil and, if appropriate, a fourth (or further) ink, which is preferably a black ink, the printing inks being successively applied, according to the invention, to the web of material in such a consistency and at such a time interval that the ink already applied to the web of material still contains so much solvent or damping medium that the newly applied ink mixes with the already applied ink due to viscous material mixing or due to pigment diffusion in the pigment carrier.
