An electric motor has a housing, an armature (which is mounted within the housing such that it can rotate and has a commutator) and a brush which rests on the commutator in a sprung manner in its operating position and can be locked in an installation position at a distance from the commutator by means of a plastic retaining tongue which can be permanently deflected from the locking position. In order to be able to hold an electrical component on the motor simply and reliably, an attachment is integrally formed on the retaining tongue, by means of which the electrical component is secured in its position after the retaining tongue has been deflected.
