Cross-winding machine for the drying and finishing of yarns, especially of the type with fibres of half length, such as wool, acrylic and their mixtures, in which the cross-winding mechanism has a supporting structure limiting a single working side to which the following subassemblies are connected in mutual cooperation: - the group for the distribution and formation of the yarn turns; - the group for the transport and treatment of the yarn; - the group for stacking the yarn; the drying and finishing of the yarn obtained taking place continuously by the supply of heat by means of microwaves, the heat being propagated essentially in the transverse direction in relation to the arrangement of the yarn which thus runs transversely through the microwaves.
