Condensers in power stations having a boiling water reactor as steam generator normally have condensate feed paths to condensate delay (hold-up, holding) vessels (16) and, correspondingly, two respectively inherently controllable groups of cooling tube bundles (bunches) (2) and measuring probes (21) for monitoring the electric conductivity of the condensate. According to the invention, each feed path of the condensate is assigned its own condensate delay vessel (16), and provision is made above each condensate delay vessel (16) of an inclined drain plate (9) which has on its lower edge an upwardly bent deflecting web (12) via which the condensate drains into the associated condensate delay vessel (16), and there are arranged at the bottom of a retaining chamber (11) formed by the drain plate (9) and the deflecting web (12) at least in each case one measuring probe (13) and the opening of a drain line which is closed in normal operation. The retaining chamber (11) has at most 0.1 times the volume of the associated condensate delay vessel (16). Owing to the low volume of the retaining chamber (11), possible contaminations in the condensate are detected very quickly, with the result that it is possible to drain the contaminated condensate via the drain line (14) before the condensate contained in the condensate delay vessel (16) or the condensate already resupplied to the circuit becomes contaminated. It is particularly advantageous to use the condenser according to the invention in nuclear power stations having ... Original abstract incomplete. <IMAGE>
