The mounting for the drawing head 12 of a drawing machine has a mechanism for parking the drawing head 12 in a raised floating position lying above the drawing surface 20. This mechanism encompasses a connecting rod 26 which is connected in an articulated manner via hinge pins 38, 40 both to a support plate 28 attached to the carriage and to a head plate 24 carrying the drawing head 12. The head plate 24 carries, on its end surface 44 adjoining the support plate 28, a projection 46 whose height is selected to take account of the active length of the connecting rod 26, in such a manner that the projection 46 cannot, when the connecting rod 26 is lifted out of a horizontal position of rest, pass by the end surface 42 of the support plate 28. The end surface 42 has a recess 48 at the lower end, into which the projection 46 of the head plate 24 can engage in the working position, resting on the drawing surface 20, of the drawing head 12. <IMAGE>
