In the desulphurisation and denitration of flue gases, the wash water arising on washing the heat exchanger connected between the flue gas desulphurisation plant and the flue gas denitration plant has been subjected to a special treatment separate from the other process procedure. This special treatment method is to cease. The weakly acidic to neutral circulating water is mixed with the acidic wash water arising on cleaning the heat exchanger and the mixture thus resulting is used as wash water at least for the entry side of the demister.
