PURPOSE:To simplify the constitution of a liquid crystal display panel, to improve the grade thereof and to facilitate an increase in the area thereof by using a ferroelectric high-polymer liquid crystal for the liquid crystal layer of the above-mentioned panel. CONSTITUTION:The liquid crystal layer consisting of the ferroelectric high- polymer liquid crystal (A) is formed between the signal electrodes 12 and scanning electrodes 14 of the liquid crystal display panel 10. The layer 13 is formed by uniaxially stretching the liquid crystal A which is kept heated to the temp. slightly lower than the isotropic phase transition temp., and coating the liquid crystal to a prescribed thickness or by other means while sufficiently orienting the same. A polyacrylate high-polymer liquid crystal (e.g.: the compd. expressed by the formula, where Mn=5,300, n=12, C* is an asymmetric carbon atom.), polyether high-polymer liquid crystal, polysiloxane high-polymer liquid crystal, etc., are used for the liquid crystal A. |
