A sliding contact bearing (2), which may be used as a replacement for conventional ball and roller bearings, comprises a rotating bearing member (4) adapted to be mounted for rotation with a rotatable shaft and being in the form of a sleeve with at least one flange (17), and a stationary bearing member (6) being split radially and/or axially into two or more parts (12, 13) each having a groove (14, 15) such that when the parts of the stationary bearing member (6) are assembled about the rotating bearing member (4), the grooves are complementary to the circumferential flange (17) to facilitate location and relative rotation of the bearing members. |
