The invention relates to a process for the production of a polyurethane-based foam which does not melt on exposure to an ignition source and which has been impregnated with an organic binder containing solids. According to the invention, the impregnation of the foam is carried out in such an amount that the dry content of the impregnant makes up from 2 to 10% by weight of the unimpregnated foam.
