In a process for producing a packing sleeve of polytetrafluoroethylene or a related polymer for use in lip-type sealing rings, in which the packing sleeve is gripped in the adhesion-part section between the housing ring and the clamping ring, the packing sleeve is bent over at the inner circumference towards the packing lip bearing against the shaft or rod and the packing sleeve has on the outer circumference an additional axial leg which, provided with a packing profile on the end, bears against the receptacle groove of the housing, the deformation of the individual packing sleeve sections and the embossing of the packing profile and of the running-surface return twist are carried out from the flat packing disc punctured by a tube in separate process steps, so that rebound forces of the deformed disc occur essentially on the inner and outer circumference and can be utilised for pressing radially against the static and dynamic packing surfaces, whereas the adhesion-part section, in particular, remains free of deformation stresses and thus free of uncontrollable and undesired rebound forces. <IMAGE>
