The invention relates to a method for monitoring phase failures in a three-phase system, especially an invertor-pulsed three-phase system, in the case of which the phase currents are detected and are evaluated via bandpass filters and comparators. The object is to make such a method more reliable and simpler than known solutions and it is furthermore desired to manage using cheaper components. The solution according to the invention comprises the overall root-mean-square value of the currents (Irms) being determined via the phase currents (I1, I2, I3) and filtering, via a bandpass filter (20), out of a harmonic spectrum of the overall root-mean-square value, those harmonics which are characteristic of a phase failure, a value of the filtered-out alternating component which exceeds a threshold value triggering a phase-failure signal (PHA) via a window comparator (30). <IMAGE>
