Process for treating residues containing non-ferrous metals, with separation of the metals and return thereof to the economic circulation, in which, after oxidation of the residues in an aqueous medium and subsequent acidification, the metals dissolve, iron, calcium and/or silicon remaining at least in part in the insoluble solids portion. After separating off the solids portion and making the same inert, the non-ferrous metals still situated in solution are separated off by liquid-liquid extraction.
