A gauge (1) for the continuous measurement of the pressure of fluid, gas or liquid comprises a closed cylinder (2), a tube (3), a ceramic sleeve (4), a ram (5), a driving mechanism (6) and a precision weight measuring instrument (7). The gas, liquid or fluid pressure is led via the tube into the cavity (8) within the closed top cylinder (2) in which the pressure is converted into a force acting vertically downwards through the ram onto the weight measuring instrument. The driving mechanism acts to rotate the sleeve about its axis but not to rotate the ram hence reducing linear friction between the two and allowing the ram to move freely in response to pressure in the cylinder. |
