Such laminations are usually cut to a desired length from bands firstly cut to a desired width in a longitudinal dividing apparatus, and are frequently annealed in continuous annealing furnaces in order to remove mechanical stresses introduced by the cutting and stamping (punching) operations. According to the invention, the annealing is restricted only to the delimiting edges of the laminations, but at least to the longitudinal edges, with the result that metallically bare surfaces are oxidized in the immediate edge region and cutting burrs are burnt off. This annealing is performed before the deposition by means of which the laminations are deposited on stacks ready to be built. The method according to the invention is chiefly suitable for producing laminations for transformer iron cores for transformers with rated powers from approximately 50 kVA. <IMAGE>
