The swivelling mechanism according to the invention for the revolving chair (3) of a selective-cut heading machine consists of at least one swivelling cylinder (24, 25, 26, 27) which is connected via its one end to the revolving chair and via its other end to a fixed swivelling head (16) in the interior of the revolving chair. The swivelling head (16) is preferably arranged in the interior of the revolving chair (3) in such a way that its vertical axis coincides with the revolving-chair axis (17). In each case an adapted configuration of the swivelling head (16) and the selection of the position of the articulated connections (18, 19, 20, 21) permit the use of several swivelling cylinders (24, 25, 26, 27) in order to be able to achieve the requisite swivelling forces. Proven single- or double-acting hydraulic cylinders are preferably used as the swivelling cylinders. <IMAGE>
