<p>A polygonally shaped metal cutting insert having top (21a), bottom (21b), front (22a), rear (22b) and side faces (23a,23b) with corresponding front (27) and side cutting edges (25a,25b), chip forming means being located on the top face (21a) within an area defined by the cutting edges (27,25a,25b) and comprising a front chip deflector surface (29) spaced from the cutting edges (27,25a,25b), projecting out of the top surface and directed along the length of one of the side cutting edges (25a,25b) and first and second side chip deflector surfaces (3a) spaced from the cutting edges (27,25a,25b), projecting out of the top surface (25a) and respectively directed along the lengths of the side cutting edges (25a,25b).</p> |
