SUPERCONDUCTING CURRENT LIMITING SWITCHGEAR

PURPOSE:To prevent a local breakdown of elements in time of current limiting by providing surge absorbing elements made from ZrO between both terminals of a superconductive current limiting switchgear and earth, and providing the surge absorbing elements made from ZrO to one through several reciprocations of zigzag elements in parallel. CONSTITUTION:A current limiting switchgear is constituted by combining superconductive limiter elements 1 with semi-conductor elements 2a and 2b. Surge absorbing elements 6a and 6b made from ZrO are connected between both terminals of the current limiting switchgear and earth. The surge absorbing elements 8 made from ZrO are connected to one through several reciprocations of the superconductive limiting elements 1.
