The valves are connected separately to the clutches (H, L, 1st, 2nd) in a transmission having a two-step clutch system consisting of main speed change gears (1st, 2nd) and auxiliary speed change gears (H,L) to enable each clutch to be controlled independently. In the case where a discharge rate of a pump at the time of starting the engine is not sufficiently high with both auxiliary clutches and main clutches required to be engaged, the speed change is done by supplying a hydraulic pressure at staggered time to the clutches (H, L) in the main speed change gear and the clutches (1st, 2nd) in the auxiliary speed change gear. The supply of a hydraulic pressure to the main clutches is started after the filling of the auxiliary clutches has been completed, such that variations in the filling time, which is ascribed to a decrease on the discharge rate of the pump, are minimised.
|
