An apparatus for electronically measuring the size of a foot for determining a properly fitted specific shoe size includes a light sensitive array defined by an opticram dynamic random access memory, a light source for imaging the foot to be measured upon the light sensitive array to effect storage of electrical energy in individual ones of light sensitive elements, a microprocessor including program storage means connected through address select logic means to an input of the light sensitive array for directing the sequential reading of the ouput of the individual light sensitive elements, a video display for displaying an image of the foot in response to the output of the light sensitive array, and a data bus for transmitting the output of the light sensitive array to the microprocessor and video display. The video display allows the customer to view the process of foot measurement.
