<p>A feller head includes a base plate having a tree receiving notch, and an upstanding frame and a support plate parallel to and pivoting on the base plate such that the support plate can travel in an arc across the notch in the base plate. A chain saw is provided with a run along the leading edge of the support plate such that as the support plate is advanced across the notch the chain saw will cut through a tree grasped within the notch of the felling head. After the tree has been severed, it is supported on the support plate and held there by accumulator means.</p> |
