PURPOSE:To reduce the amt. of radioactive waste by providing splittable structures to the followers and neutron absorbers of a control rod consisting of a handle, followers, neutron absorbers and falling speed limiters. CONSTITUTION:The reactor control rod has the structure to allow the splitting of the upper parts of the handle 1, the followers 2 and the neutron absorbers 3 in the part of A-A arrows. The inserting and withdrawing properties at the time of using the control rod in the state of removing the handle 1 and the followers 2 by moving guide rollers 5 mounted heretofore to the handle 1 to the upper part of the neutron absorbers 3 as well as at the time of using the same in the state of holding the handle 1 and the followers 2 mounted are similar to heretofore. The similar effect is thereby obtd. even if the handle and followers of the control rod which are to be replaced upon termination of the life thereof are remounted and, therefore, the radioactive waste is decreased.
