<p>A method for applying boron to a crop or an area of cultivation in which a crop is being or will be cultivated, comprising the steps of (1) forming a solution of a first boron compound which is effective for providing boron to crops or areas under cultivation, in a water-miscible glycol solvent, (2) dispersing fine particles from 1 to 20μm in size of a second boron compound which is effective in providing boron to crops or areas under cultivation in a stable dispersion in the said solution so as to form a concentrated composition which is stable on storage and which has a total boron compound content of at least 5% (calculated as boron) or greater than that forming a saturated solution in the said water-miscible glycol solvent, the said first boron compound and the said second boron compound being the same or different and being selected from the group comprising potassium and sodium polyborates and tetraborates, and the weight ratio of the disperse boron compound to the dissolved boron compound being from 0.2:1 to 5:1, (3) diluting the concentrated composition thus obtained with water, and (4) applying the diluted composition to a crop or an area under cultivation.</p> |
