Tetrakis(3-(3,5-di-tert.-butyl-4- hydroxyphenyl) propionyloxy methyl)methane (I) is prepd. by ester-exchange of pentaerythritol with 3-(3,5-di-tert.butyl- 4-hydroxyphenyl)propionic acid alkyl ester (II) in the presence of 3-(3-tert.butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl) propionic acid alkyl ester (III) and of a basic catalyst (e.g. 0.1-10% by wt. relative to (II) of an organic tin cpd.). The ratio of (III) to (II) is pref. 0.1-5.0% by wt.
