PURPOSE:To improve the positioning accuracy by providing a boss to a beam and mounting an electromagnetic shield plate onto the boss so as to minimize the effect of thermal expansion of the electromagnetic shield plate. CONSTITUTION:The head assembly comprising plural sliders 4 and a plate spring 2 is fitted to the tip of a supporting arm 1. A servo head reads positioning information recorded in advance on a face of a magnetic disk 13 and applies positioning based on the read information. The electromagnetic shield plate 3 is mounted on the boss 14 provided on the beam 5 so as not to give electromagnetic effect of the data head onto the servo head. Thus, the effect of the electromagnetic shield plate 3 whose linear thermal expansion coefficient differs from that of a raw material of the supporting arm 1 due to thermal expansion is minimized and the relative position error between the servo head and the data head due to the change in the ambient temperature is decreased thereby improving the positioning accuracy. |
