PURPOSE:To lower the floating of a magnetic head without providing a liquid lubricating agent layer by polishing the surface of an Ni-P alloy layer subjected to mirror finishing by a polishing tape, then to finish polishing by the finer polishing tape in an extremely short period of time. CONSTITUTION:The surface of the Ni-P alloy layer which is formed on a nonmagnetic substrate and is subjected to mirror finishing is polished by the rough polishing tape, by which adequate center line average height (Ra) is provided to the surface and the coefft. of friction of sufficiently lowered. This surface is polished for a short period of time by the finer polishing tape, by which the upper parts of the parts [the parts having max. height (Rmax) and the height approximate thereto] are eventually chipped away. The surface of the Ni-P alloy layer is, therefore, made into the surface from which the parts to constitute the projections are removed while the surface shapes roughened by the rough polishing tape are maintained. The magnetic disk which has the low coefft. of friction and is capable of lowering the floating of the magnetic head is thereby obtd. even if the liquid lubricating agent is not particularly used. |
