This relief device is of the type comprising means A for fastening to a support for a means B for fastening to the conductor and overload-relieving means which are interposed between these two fastening means and are capable, above an overload value in the conductor, of enabling the fastening means A and B to move apart. According to the invention, the overload-relieving means are constituted by a cylindrical shaft 2 mounted so as to rotate freely in one of the fastening means A and by at least one helical spring 11, the constructional characteristics of which determine the tripping value of the relief device, this spring being arranged around the shaft 2 and connected directly, via one of its ends 10a to one of the fastening means B, while the other end 5a is connected, indirectly, to the other fastening means A, and are associated with means for limiting their operating travel. <IMAGE>
